Stronger, Lighter, Safer… IMPAXX™ Energy Absorbing Foam Helps Keep Drivers Safer, Even At Top Speeds

At a Glance: A spectacular example of IMPAXX™ energy absorbing foam at work has been seen by millions of viewers around the world. On April 4, NASCAR driver Michael McDowell hit the wall at the Texas Motor Speedway going about 200 miles per hour. His car rolled over eight times before coming to rest. And he walked away unharmed.

IMPAXX™ energy absorbing foam is one of several safety elements in NASCAR’s “Car of Tomorrow.”

IMPAXX is part of the safety system that NASCAR has put in place for the Car of Tomorrow, with exactly this happy outcome in mind.

According to Michael Waltrip, whose company has three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams including the UPS Toyota Camry, all racing families are glad to have IMPAXX foam as part of the upgraded NASCAR safety system.

And those same safety benefits are available to families around the globe, as IMPAXX has been specified on more than two million vehicles currently on the street.

Dow Automotive was named the exclusive provider of energy-absorbing foam for NASCAR in 2007. Our relationship continues with a multi-year associate sponsorship for car No. 44 and the UPS Toyota Camry team.  Team owner, Michael Waltrip, driver David Reutimann and the No. 44 Toyota Camry made a pit stop at the Dow Automotive technical center in Auburn Hills, Michigan on April 29.
