BETAFOAM 87100-87124 is a two component foam used to make a high density, all-water-blown rigid polyurethane foam. These components were engineered to produce foam for increasing stiffness of body structure cavities. Foam is produced by the rapid mixing of both components under high shear conditions. These components were formulated to provide cavity fill before the mixture gels. The foam has adhesion to primed metal surfaces.
Product Benefits:
-
Acoustical, structural and energy management performance enhancement
-
Cost and mass-efficient solution compared to traditional approaches (steel, expandable/pumpable epoxy, expandable baffles, drop-in parts)
-
Potential to down gauge or eliminate body-in-white (BIW) content
-
Design flexibility via reproducible cavity filling
-
Foam will fill any shape/contour
-
Doesn't require re-design after sheet metal changes
-
-
New low-MDI formulations may relieve ventilation requirements and can be more easily facilitated in assembly plant environments
Application: BETAFOAM 87100-87124 is used to increase the stiffness and/or the crashworthiness of automotive body structure cavities.
Application Methods: BETAFOAM 87100 and BETFOAM 87124 can be pumped from bulk containers into heated meter mix and dispense equipment. The proper mix ratio is in turn dispensed manually or robotically through an impingement mix gun. Adequate ventilation is recommended while dispensing this system.
OEM Specifications: BETAFOAM 87100-87124 meets General Motors GM9982296 and DaimlerChrysler MS-DC-639 specifications.
