SPECTRIM™ 50-S RIM
  • SPECTRIM™ 50-S RIM

SPECTRIMTM 50-S reaction moldable polymer was developed for painted exterior applications such as bumper fascias and is comprised of a two-component polyurethane system that incorporates advanced internal mold release (IMR) technology developed by Dow. This technology provides multiple part release from metal molds after initial application of a soap mold release.

Product benefits:

  • Exceptional demold strength
  • Superior polymer toughness
  • Easily processed in standard RIM equipment
  • Short in-mold cure times
  • Outstanding processability
  • Excellent design flexibility
  • Outstanding toughness and gravel resistance
  • Great paintability
  • Significantly reduces downtime for external mold release applications and reduces mold clean-up
  • Shown to delivers greater than 50-percent productivity improvement

Application:

SPECTRIM 50-S reaction moldable polymer was developed for painted exterior applications such as bumper fascia; it has also been successfully used for other applications requiring a nominal flexural modulus of 50,000 psi.

Application methods:
SPECTRIM 50-S reaction moldable polymer is easily processed in standard RIM equipment and provides short in-mold cure times, fewer part rejects due to tears and excellent Class A surfaces easily prepared for painting.

OEM specifications: SPECTRIM 50-S reaction moldable polymer meets DaimlerChrysler MS-AY345, DaimlerChrysler MS-AY344 and Ford ESB-MSD263-A4 specifications.
